In March 2007 Alianzas launched a six-week series of basic Spanish classes for University of Missouri-Kansas City Institute for Human Development (UMKC-IHD) staff. This curriculum was developed to afford UMKC-IHD staff with the opportunity to build a foundation of Spanish-language comprehension and pronunciation, learn about the Hispanic/Latino culture and the belief systems that are emerging in Missouri, and be more greatly equipped to effectively assist Hispanic/Latino families that have children with developmental disabilities.
For more information, see "Distance Learning: 'Introduction to Spanish and the Hispanic/Latino Culture'."
